MCR Labs: Site Redesign for a Cannabis Research Laboratory

MCR Labs is a leading cannabis research laboratory. My studio's extensive collaboration with them led us to redesign their multi-state and HQ websites, a complete overhaul of the marketing site covering information architecture, navigation, accessibility, art direction and visual design. Part of the task was incorporating the company's new brand ethos while aligning with the needs of various users, including existing and potential clients as well as the laboratory's own admin, technicians and content creators.

I built the information architecture. Rather than organize the site around the company, I structured the main section around the questions a prospective client actually arrives with: if I test with MCR, what will I get? What do I need to do, what does it cost, and how long does it take? A separate Cannabis Science section served the general public, and a client's own report page sat behind a login.

Design QA Across a Growing Network

As the company grew from a single laboratory into a multi-state network, with a headquarters site plus a local site for each lab, I worked as the design quality check across that system, reviewing designs in detail before release: how the lab directory behaves whichever site you are on, how menus and spacing work across desktop and mobile, and where a card invites a click and where it should not.

Downloadable Reports

I designed the experience for the lab reports that clients download and share. A client can publish a report, download it as a PDF, generate a QR code to put on the product itself, or export assets sized for social media. Nothing goes public until they flip the switch.

I also ran a UX audit of their internal intranet and mentored one of their designers. The site is still live, and still uses the section structure and testing taxonomy I set out.
