Creating a New Minimal Tool that Just Works
The client had identified a need in their industry and asked me and my colleague to help define, and then quickly create, an MVP that could be released fast, used to solicit feedback and then built upon.
To start, we conducted research including interviews with stakeholders and target audiences, and a competitive scan to see whether there were any comparable products already on the market. Using these findings we created a simple set of personas, each one an amalgam of the type of person we'd spoken with. With the concrete needs and wishes of these personas in mind, we then developed the UX strategy, and created a prototype, using Adobe XD.
This simple prototype allowed us to test our designs with the people who would likely make use of the product, gathering feedback to incorporate in to our final designs for that round. We worked with the development team to address data challenges on the backend and to ensure that our designs would be implementable.
